Aishwarya Rai (Mangalore, Karnataka, 1 november 1973) is een Indiaas model en actrice.Bijnamen: Ash, Aishu en voor familie Gullu. Ze heeft een oudere broer Aditya Rai. Hij is 3 jaar ouder dan Aishwarya. Ze is op donderdag 19 April 2007 met Abhishek Bachchan getrouwd in Bombay. Op 16 november 2011 kreeg ze een dochtertje[1]. Voordat ze actrice werd was ze student architectuur en model. Ze spreekt vele talen: Engels, Hindi, Urdu, Kannada, Tamil, en Marathi, en haar moedertaal is Tulu, dat maar door twee miljoen mensen wordt gesproken. In 1994 werd ze verkozen tot Miss World. Ze wordt door velen gezien als één van de mooiste vrouwen op aarde. Zo noemde Julia Roberts haar: "The most beautiful woman in the world". Rai is married to actor Abhishek Bachchan, they met in 1997.[14] Their engagement was announced on 14 January 2007 and later confirmed by his father, Amitabh Bachchan.[102] The couple married on 20 April 2007 according to traditional Hindu rites of the Bunt community, to which she belongs.[103] Token North Indian and Bengali ceremonies were also performed.
