President's Day Joyful226

Looking through windows of time. This Monday is President's Day in honor of the Birthday's of both President's George Washington and Abraham Lincoln. President Lincoln's birthday was February 12, President Washington's was the February 22. It was later decided to celebrate both men's birthday on the Monday the week after President Lincoln's Birthday. Thus if a Sunday should fall on President Lincoln's birthday we would wait a week. So it would come somewhere between the two President's birthday's, but not to be on either one's exact day. One can see in this picture that both President's are in deep thought perhaps they are wondering about this country. One helped to form it, the other helped to save it. Both relied heavily on God as seen by the church in the background and the Bible in the window. The silver chocolate pot was a gift George Washington gave his beloved step son John (Jackie) Curtis on Jackie's wedding day. Jackie is standing by President Washington in this picture.. The President's Seal is the plate in the center which I thought a good thing to use as it was designed when George Washington was in office and has been used by every President since. The plate to the right is the official presidential china used under President Lincoln while he was in the white house. Except for President Washington each president has designed their own china the White House will use on State Occasions. President Washington and President Lincoln have been the only two presidents that have had the honor of a federal holiday. This is because those two have been the ones so very instrumental in our nations history..Washington was our first President and one of the founders of our country, Lincoln was our 16th who freed the slaves and saved the nation. Both were born in February!Both were good, honorable Christian men. by Connie Hull
