Lola Mae ~ Canine Hero
Lola Mae, a Rottweiler , is the beloved family pet of an online friend. Yesterday Lola Mae saved her human's life. angels come in many forms! God bless Lola Mae, a true Hero http://www.wgal.com/news/susquehanna-valley/lancaster/Dog-saves-Denver-man-from-bee-attack/-/9704306/16249896/-/fj4fep/-/index.html ******Rottweiler comes to rescue of Denver man******* DENVER, Pa. — A Lancaster County man got some unusual help after having an allergic reaction from bee stings. John Barbera of Denver said he is alive today thanks to his Rottweiler named Lola Mae. John Barbera said he was only a few clips away from finishing yard work Tuesday when he came just a little too close to a hive of bees. "I must have disturbed them because they were mad," he said. John Barbera said his body started going numb after the first few stings and things got fuzzy. "The last thing I remember is closing the gate. After that, everything was dizzy and going blank. I walked about halfway up the yard and passed out," he said. John Barbera said he doesn't know how long he was unconscious. With a heart history, diabetes and a new-found bee allergy, he said it easily could have been the end for him. That's when his dog came to his rescue. "My dog kept nudging me, licking my face. I heard her bark a couple times," he said. "That's all I know. She kept pushing me." "He said, 'How did I get in the house?' And I said, 'I don't know how you got in the house,'" said his wife, Terri Barbera. The couple said Lola Mae woke up him up and he was able to get into his house. He managed to call his wife for help before passing out again. DENVER, Pa. — "There's nobody here. If she wouldn't have been pushing him and licking him, he might not have ever woke up," Terri Barbera said. John Barbera was rushed to Ephrata Hospital where he recovered from his allergic reaction. Despite Barbera's medical condition, the couple's mind was still on Lola. When they returned home Thursday, her daily walk became a struggle. "She just stayed by his side the whole night. When he went to bed, she went to bed," Terri Barbera said. "I started to cry, because I knew I had to take her on a walk for her to know everything is OK," John Barbera said. It wasn't until Friday that Lola finally was able to feel normal again. "I took her out this morning. I think she'll be OK," John Barbera said. "He didn't want another Rotty, but he said, 'I can't live without one,'" Terri Barbera said. "She saved his life. That's how true that became." John Barbera said he's still feeling sore, but much better. He even returned to work Thursday. Lola Mae is also doing well. The couple said they do not believe that she was hurt by the bees. Lola Mae and her daddy had quite the day today. I am so proud of her, Its because of her, her daddy is still here with us. I went in to work for a bit So John went out to dead head butterfly bushes All of a sudden a swarm of bees started attacking him he ran they went after him and was still stinging him he was on the outside of the fence he made it to the inside of the yard fell down and passed out. He went into anaphylactic shock... He doesn't know how long he was out he just remembers her licking his face and pushing him to try to wake him up. He somehow got into the house called me was almost passed out while he was talking he said dear i need you help me I was attacked by a swarm of bees hurry! I get home and normally she is like hey, hi, yep you are home whatever, she was so anxiety ridden and crying jumping around him. He was passed out again. I got him to come around he was screaming no ambulance. So I got him to the car he was in and out of it I said look he was stung by a swarm of bees he does have a heart condition so they got a gurney put him on it and quickly went to work on him. We were at the hospital for about 3 hours when he fell he must have hit his ribs and lung because he has alot of pain. They took xrays and nothing is broken. he was bleeding from the mouth and nose. THANK THE GOOD LORD! Lola stayed with him. She wouldn't give up on him he said alls he can remember is her licking him and pushing him to get up and brought him around. He can't remember how he made it up the yard into the house. He could have died out side in the yard. If Lola wasn't doing what she was doing and bring him around. I called Laura a dear friend of ours to go to the house to check lola to see if the bees got her because by the time I got home she was pure adrenaline she seemed ok but I really had no idea I had to get him to the hospital fast. Laura checked lola head to toe and she is fine. John said that was the worst he has ever been he couldn't even feel his toes his major heart attack didn't make him as bad as he was today. The bond between Lola and her Daddy just grew even bigger if that is possible. She is her daddys angel! ♥ Thank you again Laura Ecenrode Stief for coming to sit with Lola. Thank you Jessica Friggle for helping me get John into the car. Thank you god that he is still here with us. And thank You LOLA MAE for making her daddy wake up and move.
