captive orca profiles 161 no name

This young female was captured off Zhiyovaya Bay in Kamchatka in East Russia. While two of her pod members died during the capture, the female survived and went on a long journey. The first days in captivity she stayed at a sea pen until she was flown to the Utrish Dolphinarium in Anapa on the Black Sea coast where she was kept in a sea pen next to the dolphin tank. Unfortunately, the young orca did not surive long, passing away on October 19, 2003, less than a month in captivity from the morbillivirus.
