My Sister Helen Hull Hitchcock born Aug 19, 1939-went to heaven Oct. 20, 2014 by Joyful226/ Connie
Helen Hull Hitchcock Born August 19, 1939-she went home to heaven on October 20, 2014. She was 75 years old. After an aneurysm burst about 12:30 AM Last Tuesday Morning it was operated on, however she never regained consciousness, and today she went home to heaven to be with the Lord. Lasting nearly a week after the surgery. She never regain consciousness after surgery. She was a soldier for the Lord dedicating her life to Him. On Nov. 26, 1966 she married the love her life Dr. James F. Hitchcock now retired former head of the History Dept at SLU(St. Louis University.) They had four beautiful daughters. and 6 grandchildren which she was so proud of both her children and grandchildren. Helen was the founder of two international organizations Women For Faith and Family celebrating it's 30th year this year and edited its magazine called Voices. Then in 1995 she started another called Adoremus. She was the editor and founder of both magazines and organizations. Both can be found on the web and facebook. She also wrote and edited the book The Politics of Prayer. She also authored 2 Adoremus Hymnal's for use in the Catholic Church. She was always open to God and his leadings. She was at mass early every morning before even having a cup of coffee. She work long hours researching facts so the articles would be good. She loved God with all her heart mind and soul and more than her neighbor but the world as herself. Always trying to make it a better place and even succeeding . She had great love of Country but first it was the Bible and what the Lord taught always with prayer and thanksgiving. She loved and cared about children and often playing with them and making the laugh. She was still doing somersaults to entertain children and everyone laughed. She loved The Holidays. Dressing up for Halloween and sitting on her front pouch to see the treat and treaters. Always busy at Thanksgiving making this and that and having the large family dinners. At Christmas she would get a huge Christmas Tree and even put on real candles on the tree. Later in the day having the big family dinner. For years on the 6th of January they would have a tradition of a 12th night party for the celebration of the Epiphany day aka the 12th day of Christmas. Never missing a Christmas Mass, or any other Mass for that matter. Along with the Lord she loved history, cooking, taking care of her family, Antiques, gardening, spinning yarn, knitting, dying her own yarn, music, playing the piano and other instruments, singing, of course journalism and writing, and art she was a very accomplished artist often using her art in her publications, as well as loving to be the wife and homemaker that was a little bit about what she did. But it was Her love of the Lord and of His Church where her deep passion was to the point of truly being a Christian Soldier. She was in good health and had no known major health problems that is until a week ago Saturday October 11, 2014 when she went to the hospital. She and her husband thought it was really not much of anything. It turned out she had an aneurysm on her brain. They were wanting to make sure all was ok before operating on it. But it was worse than they thought at it broke before they could work on it. They had to go in trying to save her but she never woke up but stayed on for almost a week. Then God took her home today. There was extensive Brain damage. So God was merciful and took her home to him rather than letting her live in that kind of state. Be that as it may, not only did her family lose a rock solid person with always a mind to figure things out. But so the World and the Church lost a mighty fighter for the church's moral compass. She was a true saint. Of course she was human but she was wonderful person. Heaven is happy. But we that remain feel really sad she has been taken from us too soon. She was hard worker in her 75 years. Today that is young. So long dear sister I'll miss you so. You who were given so many talents and used them all well. I know one day I'll see you again. But until that time. I'll miss you so. When life got tough I could always turn to you for advice. And knew the council you would give would always be wise. I am still in shock that you are gone It seems so unreal like a bad dream But you are perfect in all ways now. And if you could not be whole here, then I know if you couldn't fight the good fight for Christ's Kingdom you would want to go on to you beautiful eternal home. They sung you into heaven with beautiful hymns and prayers sweet sister and you went in peace. But my heart is heavy you left so suddenly. I know you are happy now. And I Will see again you one day. I'd hug you if I could. Love you dear sister. Until we meet again. Connie
