Happy June Birthday to all those who have birthdays in June by Connie/ Joyful226
Wishing you a very happy and meaningful Birthday, Some fun and interesting things about your month of June. Thursday, June 4, 2015 is Corpus Christi Day. In commemoration of the Last Supper on the day before Jesus’ crucifixion Some Christian’s, especially those who belong to the Catholic denomination, receive Communion on this day. It is celebrated on the Sunday after Trinity Sunday in some parts of the United States, although the day falls on the Thursday after Trinity Sunday in other places. Some people, particularly children, may celebrate their first Communion on this day. This practice, also known as Eucharist, is observed throughout the life of a Christian and is a time of worship they come together as one body to remember and celebrate the life and works of Jesus Christ. It includes bread and wine/grape juice in memory of the body and blood of Christ. Corpus Christi is a festival that has been celebrated by many Christians, in honor of the Eucharist since 1246. The name “Corpus Christi” is a Latin phrase that refers to the body of Christ. Although as aforementioned Corpus Christi is primarily celebrated by the Roman Catholic Church but it is also included in the calendar of some Anglican churches. The city of Corpus Christi, in Texas, was named after the day. In 1519, on the day of Corpus Christi (June 4), Spanish explorer Alonzo Alvarez de Pineda discovered a lush semi-tropical bay on what is now the southern coast of Texas. The bay, and the city that later grew in that area, took the name of the feast day. In the upper left hand corner of this creation representing Corpus Christi day, by the cross, is the late-16th-centuray ciborium(host holder for communion)is from Einsiedeln Abbey, the destination of pilgrims for twelve centuries, now numbering in the hundreds of thousands yearly. This bejeweled Eucharistic vessel was loaned to the Swiss National Museum for identification of its materials. Below this honoring D-Day that is observed in the U.S. in memory of the Normandy landings in France on June 6, 1944, in which American soldiers and other Allied forces fought to end World War II in Europe About 160,000 Allied troops landed on the beaches of Normandy, France, to fight Nazi soldiers on June 6, 1944. General Dwight D. Eisenhower called the operation a crusade in which “We will accept nothing less than full victory”. More than 5,000 ships and 13,000 aircraft supported the D-Day invasion, and by the end of the day, the troops gained a foot- hold in Normandy. Thousands of soldiers lost their lives, but thousands more trekked across Europe to end the war. The invasion is one of history’s most significant military attacks. D-Day is a special anniversary in some countries, including the United States, to remember Allied forces’ invasion of Normandy, France, in the Second World War. Next is Flag day Jun 14 as seen in the American flag People across the United States celebrate Flag Day on June 14 each year to honor the United States flag and to commemorate the flag’s adoption. On the same day, the United States Army celebrates its birthday. On June 14, 1777, the Continental Congress replaced the British symbols of the Grand Union flag with a new design featuring 13 white stars although not official often seen in a circle on a field of blue and 13 red and white stripes – one for each state. Although it is not certain, this flag may have been made by the Philadelphia seamstress Betsy Ross, who was an official flag maker for the Pennsylvania Navy. The number of stars increased as the new states entered the Union, but the number of stripes stopped at 15 and was later returned to 13. In June 1886 Bernard Cigrand made his first public proposal for the annual observance of the birth of the flag when he wrote an article titled “The Fourteenth of June” in the old Chicago Argus newspaper. Cigrand’s effort to ensure national observance of Flag Day finally came when President Woodrow Wilson issued a proclamation calling for a nationwide observance of the event on June 14, 1916. However, Flag Day did not become official until August 1949, when President Harry Truman signed the legislation and proclaimed June 14 as Flag Day. In 1966, Congress also requested that the President issue annually a proclamation designating the week in which June 14 occurs as National Flag Week. The President is requested to issue each year a proclamation to: call on government officials in the USA to display the flag of the United States on all government buildings on Flag Day; and to urge US residents to observe Flag Day as the anniversary of the adoption on June 14, 1777, by the Continental Congress of the Stars and Stripes as the official flag of the United States. Below the waving flag shows June 18 International Picnic Day celebrates the gathering together outdoors to eat and enjoy one another's company - The Picnic. The true origin of International Picnic Day is unknown, but can be traced back to the end of the French Revolution and the Victorian Era. Picnics were ways for people to escape the restrictions of etiquette and formality. As an informal food holiday, there are few rules and lots of options. International Picnic Day is observed on June 18th each year. Next down is Juneteenth an annual observance on June 19 to remember when Union soldiers enforced the Emancipation Proclamation and freed all remaining slaves in Texas on June 19, 1865. as represented by the union hat. On the right June 21 In the northern hemisphere it is the first day of Summer and the longest day of the year. Below that also on June 21 2015 is Father's Day in the United States is on the third Sunday of June. It celebrates the contribution that fathers and father figures make for their children's lives. Its origins may lie in a memorial service held for a large group of men, many of them fathers, who were killed in a mining accident in Monongah, West Virginia in 1907. Last on the left is June 29th Saint Peter and Paul day, the two that spread Christianity into Europe. This is observed in commemoration of their martyrdom. The bride on the right is to remember June is a major month for weddings. The pearls in this creation is because the birthstone of June is the Pearl both white and pink. The roses because your birth flower is the rose The name "Rose" is derived from the Latin rosa, an Etruscan form of Greek Rhodia meaning "Rhodian, originating from Rhodes." Meaning although it comes in numerous colors the bottom line is the Rose means love. One of the Christian symbols for Christ is the red rose for his passion. The Rose is also the official flower for the United States of America. Birthstone is the Pearl In Christianity: The pearl is symbolic of the kingdom of heaven, and is taken from Jesus' parable of the "pearl of great price." Matthew's gospel also uses the pearl as a symbol of the word of God. Also heaven has 12 gates made of a single pearl. 13:45 "Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant looking for fine pearls. 46 When he found one of great value, he went away and sold everything he had and bought it. (NIV) Rev. 21:21(Speaking of Heaven)The twelve gates were twelve pearls, each gate made of a single pearl. The great street of the city was of gold, as pure as transparent glass. Biblical meaning of pearls were considered among the most precious of gems, and were highly esteemed as ornaments. The kingdom of heaven is compared to a "pearl of great price." Seen above In ( Matthew 13:45,46 ) No birthday is complete with a Cake this one has a rose on it, and Ice Cream. The ice cream is a stamp I created from an award winning painting I did several years ago. Also a little musical rendition of Happy Birthday as seen by the lady playing the piano. Happy Birthday to you Happy birthday to you, Happy Birthday God bless you, Happy birthday to you. Wishing you a wonderful and blessed Birthday and I hope you enjoyed this little history course of your month. Hugs and Blessings Connie Hull
