Real Life Slum Dwellers

Real Life Slum Dwellers
Life in the slums of Mumbai have never been a picnic. The reality of life in Mumbai was brought to the glittering silver screen last year in the hit Oscar winner ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ and the success of that movie has brought international attention to the young stars who themselves actually reside in those conditions. Such is the case of 9-year old Rubina Ali who starred as the youngest version of the protagonist Latika who has now been put up for sale by her father. The sale of children is much more common than most people would believe especially in the third world.Normal asking price for an Indian child is about $75,000 but the asking price for Ali quadrupled to nearly $300,000.
