Stamp Backgrounds - transparency

Though it is not possible entirely to be able to tell when you upload a stamp whether it's background will be transparent or not. When you come to use the stamp in your work it is easy to tell if it will have a transparent background or not.

Look at the squares behind the stamp a dark grey means the background will not show up, the lighter the grey the more likely it will have at least a white background behind it causing a square shape rather than the outline of the image.

See the difference in the grey squares in these stamps:

this one has very light grey squares and hence will have a white background creating a square shape.

this one has very dark grey squares and you will only get the outline of the fairy and mushrooms.

Hope this clears up the query on knowing what the stamp will create before you add to your blingees., there is a way to cut around your shapes using various programmes and if anyone knows and can explain this technique i would be grateful to see it added here.
Thank you.

A site called lunapic.com has just recently added a category which is called transparent. You simply click on the colour you wish to make transparent (or disappear) and it will remove it for you. Again this way is a bit hit and miss, and not as good as using a cutting out program but with using it a number of times on various areas you can get it pretty accurate. Though it will tend to leave stray lines in places which just means careful positioning when using them on a blingee, but the overall outcome is pretty good.

Lunapic is fantastic for transparency, and is the one I mostly use! Are there any others I could try?

Thought this was a good place to add a blingee update to this about the white background showing up i.e.:

Look at the squares behind the stamp a dark grey means the background will not show up, the lighter the grey the more likely it will have at least a white background behind it causing a square shape rather than the outline of the image.

However blingee have found a sort of solution to this and if a stamp, where the white background shows up, is now used with a picture that has a white background it is merged together so that the white background now matches in. However it does mean that transparent/translucent i.e. white flowers will no longer show up.

I want to thank everyone who posted helpful knowledge in this thread. I will now check out using the transparency mode at lunapic...nice to know I can do that in there. Have pics stored there already.
Well...I guess i will add a few things to the group, before I rush off. I have been making stuff like a madwoman lately...come see, and give me a rate or two?
Hope everyone is well and HAPPY! ;0)
