For those who this may concern,
If you were wondering, yes, I am emo/goth. But this didn't just happen overnight. I had to make my decision, and I did. I didn't just start putting my hair funky, or dressing all black so I could be labeled as I am. I did that to find the missing piece, if you will. My point is that NO ONE IS BORN EMO. It's ultimately impossible, and unthinkable in the eyes of mine. We all must make life-changing decisions some day, and I choose to make mine early.
Another thing is being emo, or goth, or scene, or punk, or whatever else, is not just about what you wear or how you put on your eyeliner (ok, I do). It's how you are, what you feel, and your opinion. If you're emo, and somebody calls you a miserable fag, you go up and punch them in the face!! If you're goth, and some duche calls you a demon, you smile and kick them where it hurts!! If you're scene, and somebody calls you gay, you slap them across the face!! No one can tell you what you are, unless they're asking for a beating!
To sum this whole letter up, I'm saying that it takes dedication, pride, and a good-looking outfit to be what you are. Emos (like myself) are separated from the world for the way they look. Do you know why we cut? To feel something. Why do we feel nothing? For the world has taken our feelings away.
So when you're ready to label someone, remember this letter and how they feel. And the next time that someone labels you, remember this letter, and know that for once, someone understands you.
