LA STORIA DEI TOKIO HOTEL
I gemelli Bill e Tom Kaulitz, che suonano insieme fin dalla nascita, grazie al loro patrigno, un famoso musicista di Magdeburgo, riescono ad esibirsi in varie manifestazioni e nel 2001 incontrano il batterista Gustav Schäfer e il bassista Georg Listing. Il cantante Bill fonda i Devilish. Nel 2003 Bill partecipa al talent-show Star Search e, dopo essere stato visionato da Peter Hoffmann, decide di mettere tutto il gruppo sotto contratto con la Sony BMG con il nome di Tokio Hotel. Un team composto da maestri di musica e canto allena i quattro ragazzi, ma a pochi giorni dalla pubblicazione del primo singolo, la casa discografica licenzia il gruppo. Due anni dopo, nel 2005, i Tokio Hotel ottengono un nuovo contratto discografico, con la Universal Music Group|Universal Music. Il video del primo singolo Durch den Monsun inizia ad essere trasmesso nelle varie tv musicali tedesche a partire dal luglio 2005 e in breve tempo il gruppo conquista un gran numero di fan. Il 15 agosto 2005 viene pubblicato il singolo che raggiunge in una settimana la #1 in Germania e in Austria. A fine settembre 2005 viene pubblicato il primo album Schrei, anch'esso al #1 delle classifica e il singolo "Schrei" che raggiunge in poco tempo il primo posto nelle classifiche dei singoli tedeschi. Nel 2006 viene pubblicata un riedizione dell'album Schrei, intitolata Schrei: so laut du kannst (Urla: Il più forte che puoi) contenente i brani del primo album con l'aggiunta di alcuni inediti. Dall'album sono estratti due singoli: Rette mich e Der letzte Tag. I Tokio Hotel sono una delle poche band tedesche famose all'estero.
Il 23 febbraio 2007 viene pubblicato in Germania il secondo album Zimmer 483 e il 1 giugno 2007 sarà pubblicato in tutta Europa l'album Scream
I Tokio Hotel sono una band che attira molti fans, soprattutto tra le ragazze più giovani, puntando sul loro aspetto fisico. Nella loro musica e soprattutto nel loro look i ragazzi tendono a imitare rock band famose, il che fa sperare che diventino anche loro rock star, come i loro idoli.(in molte interviste il cantante bill kaulitz ha sottolineato il fatto che lui nn si è mai ispirato a nessun alro artista,però).I testi ruotano attorno al tema del disagio esistenziale attingendo ispirazione da amore, rabbia e dolore. Il contrasto che si viene a creare tra la loro età anagrafica (tra i 17 e i 19 anni) e il loro modo di apparire li porta ad essere molto popolari, creando nel contempo una sorta di antagonismo, avvertito ed appoggiato dai media.
Attorno alla band ruotano svariate strategie di marketing (t-shirt e fanzine in testa), che sono un netto indicatore del gradimento da parte del loro pubblico.
