Wild Animals
published ca. 1860
These color lithographs were taken from Schreiber's
"Bilder-Werke für den Anschauungs-Unterricht in Schule und Haus", part six, which has become
very rare now. The same plates were also published in "The Instructive Picture Book",
published by Edmonston and Douglas, 1860.
"The Instructive Picture Book" with its wonderful antique handcolored lithographs of children's
natural history containes some of the most attractive antique prints of animals that have ever been made.
Each print is composed as an integral whole of illustration, with the animals placed in their realistic
and fascinating natural environment.
