Elizabeth Woolridge Grant, nota come Lana Del Rey (New York, 21 giugno 1986), è una cantante statunitense. Il suo nome d'arte è una combinazione tra il nome dell'attrice hollywoodiana Lana Turner e quello dell'automobile Ford Del Rey. Nel giugno del 2011 ha firmato un contratto con la Stranger Records per la pubblicazione del suo singolo di debutto Video Games che, dopo essere stato notato in rete e aver raccolto consensi, è diventato la sua prima vera hit a livello commerciale. Ad ottobre firma in seguito un contratto con la major Interscope Records. Il brano è stato nominato "Miglior nuova canzone" dalla rivista Pitchfork. Il 14 dicembre 2011 è stato pubblicato su YouTube il video ufficiale di Born to Die, secondo singolo dell'artista. Diretto da Yoann Lemoine, è stato girato nel Castello di Fontainebleau in Francia. Il singolo è uscito il 23 gennaio 2012, precedendo la pubblicazione del nuovo album Born to Die, avvenuta il 31 gennaio seguente. Il 10 gennaio 2012 è stato inoltre pubblicato per il solo mercato statunitense l'EP omonimo Lana Del Rey, contenente i singoli Video Games e Born to Die e le tracce Blue Jeans e Off to the Races.
